Cookie Disclosure

What is a cookie?

Cookies are small text strings that are stored on your computer when you visit certain pages on the Internet. Cookies can perform a variety of functions, such as allowing you to efficiently browse different pages, as they remember your preferences, and, more in general, improve the user’s stay on a site.

Some cookies are used to perform computer authentication and session tracking, and to storage specific information about users who access a web page. These so-called technical cookies are often useful, because they can make web browsing and use faster and prompt, because, for example, they can facilitate certain procedures when you shop online, when you log in to restricted access areas or when a website automatically recognises the language you usually use.

A particular type of cookie, called analytics or tracking cookies, are used by website managers to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site, and then process general statistics on the service and its use.

On the other hand, other cookies can be used to track and profile users while browsing, study their movements and web browsing or use habits, also for the purpose of sending advertising of targeted and personalised services. In this case, we are talking about profiling or marketing cookies.

It may also happen that a web page contains cookies from other sites and embedded in the different elements hosted on the page, such as advertising banners, images, videos, etc. In these cases, we are talking about third-party cookies, which are usually used for profiling purposes. For this reason, the cookies you download on your PC, Smartphone and tablet can also be read by other subjects, other than those who manage the web pages you visit.
